When we thought search could not get any faster and more relevant, Google has done it again. It's called Google Instant. How Google Instant search works: As you type into Google, results appear automatically as you type, so there's no need to click enter. Not only does it display results much faster even before you finish typing, it's also helpful as it tries to predict what you're trying to search. It has started to roll out to users in the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Russia who use the following browsers: Chrome v5/6, Firefox v3, Safari v5 for Mac and Internet Explorer v8. So for those still using Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) or Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) and other older internet browsers, you're missing out! Google Instant search facts:
- Before Google Instant, the typical searcher took more than 9 seconds to enter a search term, and we saw many examples of searches that took 30-90 seconds to type.
- Using Google Instant can save 2-5 seconds per search.
